Skip the Tab S10 – the excellent Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra drops to its lowest price

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 range has been discontinued now that the Tab S10 is the main lineup of tablets from the manufacturer. They may be older devices but they are still perfectly useable and powerful – and now there’s a chance to score one for a fantastic price in this limited-time deal at Best Buy.

Head over to the retailer where you can find the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra for $799.99 (was $1,199.99) – that’s the best price ever for the top-end version of the manufacturer’s last-generation tablet. It’s still a great all-round device with a large 14.6-inch AMOLED display, a reasonable 256GB of storage and an included S-Pen to make navigation and doodling a breeze.

Today’s best Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra deal

Even though the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra has been discontinued in favor of the new S10 range, this is still one high-end tablet. It’s packed with powerful features, such as the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display for solid all-around performance and fantastic picture quality whether you’re working, streaming TV shows, or playing games. Upgrades are minimal compared to the S8 models, but we still thought this raised the bar for Android tablets in our Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra review, and it’s now available for its lowest price yet.

View Deal

The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is by far one of the biggest and best tablets that Samsung has made. It boasts a vibrant 14.6-inch AMOLED display that is capable of refresh rates up to 120 Hz and resolutions up to 2960 x 1848. Everything looks and plays great on this tablet.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU helps this tablet rival the most basic of laptops if you’re after a device for general use. The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is a brilliant deal for a portable device that doubles up perfectly well as a workstation if you attach a keyboard and mouse.

We have a full overview of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 series, including all the specs and prices. We’ve also reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 and the Galaxy Tab S9 Plus in addition to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. If that wasn’t enough, we’ve also written a separate op-ed for why the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra is worth it.

We may have just got a sneak peek at the OnePlus 13 from… OnePlus

The successor to the OnePlus 12 is expected to break cover at some point in October, and we’ve quite possibly just been given a glimpse of what’s to come – courtesy of OnePlus itself, in an early promotional image.

This picture was posted by OnePlus China president Li Jie Louis (via Android Authority), and if we can trust Google Translate, it shows the next-generation screen coming to future flagship smartphones under the OnePlus brand.

That’s not exactly confirmation that this is indeed the OnePlus 13 – but it does seem that it’s at least the display set for the upcoming handset. Aside from the screen, all we can really see is a small selfie camera hole, and some thin bezels around the edge.

Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station dropped a hint suggesting this is indeed the OnePlus 13, and mentioned a screen size of 6.82 inches. That would match the OnePlus 12, though presumably the screen would be upgraded in other aspects.

The rumors so far

The OnePlus 12 could be replaced very soon (Image credit: Peter Hoffmann)

We’ve haven’t heard a huge amount about the OnePlus 13 up to this point: there’s been talk of an upgrade to a 6,000mAh battery (up from 5,400mAh on the current model), which we’re hoping would mean even better battery life.

According to the same source, the OnePlus 13 will stick with the same charging speeds – 100W wired and 50W wireless – but as they still beat most models on the market right now, we’re not too disappointed about that.

An upgrade in the camera department has also been mooted. The OnePlus 12 brings with it a triple-lens 50MP wide + 64MP periscope telephoto (with 3x optical zoom) + 48MP ultrawide rear camera setup, so look out for improvements to that.

The iPad mini 7 may have fixed Apple’s long-standing ‘jelly scrolling’ problem

The iPad mini 7 may have fixed Apple’s long-standing ‘jelly scrolling’ problem

In our iPad mini (2021) review, we didn’t notice any major issues with the display on the sixth-generation version of the tablet, but the slate did attract complaints about a ‘jelly scrolling’ problem – which Apple has now apparently fixed with the iPad mini 7.

If you’re new to the saga, jelly scrolling is where one side of the screen refreshes slower than the other, causing a jarring effect when scrolling up and down – especially on pages of text. Apple has said it isn’t an issue, but it has continued to be an annoyance for some.

Our review of the 7th-gen iPad mini (2024) is still on the way, and it goes on sale October 23. In the meantime, well-known Apple commentator Jason Snell has said on his Six Colors podcast (via MacRumors) that he believes the issue has now been sorted out.

Snell didn’t go into specific details about the tweak, or say where he got his information, but his close connections to Apple make this a credible tip-off – even if the new iPad mini comes with an 8.3-inch LCD panel that appears to be almost identical to the screen on the previous model.

Smoother scrolling

The iPad mini 6, launched in 2021 (Image credit: TechRadar)

Quite how big of a deal this is depends on how much the jelly scrolling on the iPad mini 6 spoiled your viewing experience. Apple has remained adamant that there’s no issue, and it was only noticeable in portrait mode – but once you did see it, it was then difficult to unsee it while using the tablet.

It was certainly enough of a problem for us to mention it in our list of 5 potentially annoying iPad mini 7 limitations. Apart from a performance bump, there aren’t too many upgrades on the new slate – though it will be able to run Apple Intelligence.

According to a rumor that surfaced last year, changes in the way the iPad mini is assembled are responsible for eradicating jelly scrolling. Whatever has happened behind the scenes, it’s going to be a welcome improvement.

You can preorder the iPad mini 7 right now from Apple, or wait until Wednesday to go and pick it up in stores. Pricing starts at $499 / £499 / AU$799 – that gets you 128GB of storage, with 256GB and 512GB models also available.

We might have our first look at the long-rumored Samsung tri-fold

We might have our first look at the long-rumored Samsung tri-fold

  • A newly publicized patent shows Samsung had created a design for a tri-fold device in 2021
  • This adds to recent rumors that the company is exploring new phone form factors
  • There is still no confirmation from Samsung regarding a tri-fold device

The long-rumored Samsung Galaxy tri-fold might not be entirely mythological after all, if a newly-published patent is anything to go by.

The US Patent and Trademark Office has publicized a patent document that details design specifications for a tri-fold device alongside a conventional booklet-style foldable device.

The patent document, originally filed by Samsung in 2021, depicts a tri-fold device with a Z-shaped hinge, similar to the Huawei Mate XT.

The Mate XT became the world’s first tri-fold device when it launched in September, but it remains a China-exclusive device at the time of writing – leaving global markets open for Samsung or another competitor.

As MSPowerUser reports, the Samsung patent details new screen technology such as a strengthened barrier layer to protect the inner display with openings to reduce strain at the hinges. The design also includes an anti-reflective coating made of synthetic resin or another unspecified material.

Other construction materials mentioned include glass and stainless steel.

Samsung has long been tipped as the likely leader in the race to release a globally available tri-fold phone, which would sit alongside the company’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6. Indeed, we recently reported on claims from Korea that Samsung is looking into new phone form factors.

Prior to this, we reported that a leaked codename for a new foldable model with no analog in the current Samsung lineup may refer to a potential tri-fold device.

Though this new (or rather, newly discovered) patent doesn’t confirm that the proposed Samsung tri-fold is due for release, or even in the works, it does tell us that Samsung has given serious consideration to the tri-fold concept.

With how much we’re hearing about a Samsung tri-fold at the moment, it’s hard not to take this as an encouraging sign – though it’s important to remember that most of the above is based on rumors for the time being.

It’ll be up to Samsung to confirm the development of a tri-fold Galaxy device, if and when it sees fit, so be sure to keep up with our Samsung phones coverage to catch the latest updates.

Last chance: the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is still $800 off in one of the best Cyber Monday deals I’ve ever seen

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 sits right at the top of Samsung’s mobile lineup: as one of the best foldable phones, it’s both one of the most innovative and expensive mobile devices you can buy. However, thanks to perhaps the best Cyber Monday deal I’ve seen, you can get the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 from Samsung directly for just $1,099 (was $1,899) right now.

As unbelievable as this deal seems, there’s no trickery going on here – Samsung really has cut the price of the Z Fold 6 by a huge $800, and that’s before considering the company’s famously generous trade-in opportunities. Having carried on through the weekend, this is also possibly the best late Black Friday deal I’ve seen, too.

Samsung has boosted its regular $300 saving on the Galaxy Z Fold 6 by an additional $500 for Cyber Monday, meaning you can save a massive $800 without having to trade in your existing device. The full saving applies to two storage variants (256GB and 512GB) and the black or white color variants, which are exclusive to Samsung’s online store. if you’d prefer a more vibrant color option, you’ll still benefit from $500 off.

As our Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 review notes, this is a seriously powerful phone. We found that the latest in Samsung’s line of booklet foldable “edged closer to perfection”, with its gorgeous 7.6-inch inner display, premium design, and classy triple-camera system.

In fact, our most salient complaint about this productivity powerhouse was the price tag, which is greatly soothed by Samsung’s generous Cyber Monday offer: indeed, at $1,099, the Z Fold 6 sits now $200 below the list price of Samsung’s super-premium slab phone, the Galaxy S24 Ultra (though that phone is currently on sale, too).

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 leak gives us another hint about one of its key specs

  • The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is again rumored to use the Exynos 2500
  • Samsung’s own silicon was missing from the Galaxy S25
  • Using the CPU might mean cheaper prices for the foldable

With the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch out of the way, the next Samsung phone launches we can turn our attention to are for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 – and a key spec for the latter handset just leaked out.

According to long-time tipster @Jukanlosreve, Samsung will go with its very own Exynos 2500 processor for the Galaxy Z Flip 7, a processor that isn’t being used in any of the Galaxy S25 handsets unveiled a few days ago.

This is something we’ve heard before, adding extra credibility to the rumor. The tipster lays out the full specifications of the chipset too, including a 10-core cluster, and it looks like an impressive piece of silicon on paper.

As you’ll see from our Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 review, the 2024 version of the phone came fitted with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset from Qualcomm – and all the Galaxy S25 models are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processors.

Samsung has long used a mix of its own Exynos processors and those designed and made by third-party manufacturers in its smartphones, and there’s always speculation ahead of every new Samsung handset about which CPUs will get picked.

Generally speaking, the Exynos processors are thought to be a little less powerful than the alternatives – though not so much to make a huge difference to the user experience. They’re also cheaper for Samsung to make, which can mean less expensive phones.

The rumor is that Samsung has been struggling to mass produce the Exynos 2500 in sufficient quantities, which may explain why it didn’t appear in the Galaxy S25 (some Samsung Galaxy S24 models used the Exynos 2400 chipset).

iPhone 16 Pro release date: here’s what you need to know

At the September Glowtime Apple event, the Cupertino company revealed the iPhone 16 family, iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max coming in hard to bring some compelling upgrades.

These range from a new main camera, bigger batteries, a powerful A18 Pro chip, to larger displays and being ready for Apple Intelligence. And there’s the new Camera Control button.

As such, these are two iPhones that may have caught your eye. So when will they be released?

Well that’s an easy question to answer: September 20 for both models.

And, at the time of writing, iPhone 16 pre-orders go live September 13, so you have time to secure one of the new phones ahead of their release. Both the pre-order and release days are on a Friday.

If you get a pre-order in on September 13, then there’s a good chance you could take delivery of an iPhone 16 Pro or 16 Pro Max on September 20. As it stands, we’re not predicting any shipping delays or stock shortages.

But both phones offer enough to have people upgrading from the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and maybe even from iPhone 15 models. So it would be smart to jump on a pre-order ahead of the release date to avoid any disappointment, if the new Pro iPhones garner more attention than we expected.

Nothing hints that the Phone 3 could have the one feature it needs to rival the Samsung Galaxy S25

There are no indications that the Phone 3 might have the one characteristic that will enable it to compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25.

  • Everything has released a movie that indicates the Nothing Phone 3 will release on March 4.
  • The film also provides suggestions that this phone may have a telephoto cameras.
  • That’s the mark of a high-end iphone, and could see it compete with the Galaxy S25

Mid-range products have been the focus of the Nothing Phone line thus far, but that may change this season thanks to a recently leaked letter suggesting Nothing was working on a more expensive device. Little has teased a significant equipment update that we might see in the Phone 3. That letter pointed to a lot of Ai skills, but it didn’t reveal many else.

Nothing has posted a short picture that just zooms in on the encounter of Nothing Ceo Carl Pei in a post on X. He’s working at a machine in the picture while wearing eyewear, and you can clearly see the thoughts” Release 4 March” reflected in the camera.

We were already fairly confident in the company’s next phone based on a Nothing Phone 3 teaser, but this basically confirms that the company’s next phone will be unveiled on March 4.

pic. twitter.com/9mmuzlejaijanuary 28, 2025

A zoom with a view

The way the camera zooms in, which appears to be switching from a wide lens to a telephoto lens, is what makes this video more intriguing. That’s interesting, because no current Nothing Phone has a telephoto lens.

A previous teaser suggested that the Nothing Phone 3 ( or whatever this phone is called ) could have a triple-lens camera, which would be the obvious addition to the wide and ultra-wide lens configuration found on the Nothing Phone 2.

The Nothing Phone 3 could compete with the Samsung Galaxy S25, which has a triple-lens camera and a telephoto lens in the mix because this is its main feature. Even the likes of the Google Pixel 9 and the iphone 16 lack this feature, so the Nothing Phone 3 could have an advantage over those phones at least.

We refer to the Nothing Phone 3, but the company hasn’t yet confirmed which smartphone it’s hinting at in any of these teasers, leading to a possibility of a Nothing Phone 3 Pro, which one source has suggested might be coming.
